Booking an Appointment

To request a GP appointment, please complete an online form via SystmConnect. If you are unable to use the online service, our Patient Advisors will be happy to assist you over the phone.

  • Triage Process: A clinician will assess your request to determine if you require an urgent, same-day appointment or a routine appointment (which may take up to 4 weeks).

  • Location: Your appointment may be scheduled at one of our Primary Care Network (PCN) partner practices: Birchwood Medical Centre, Fearnhead Medical Centre, or Longford Street Medical Centre.

  • Confirmation: Once triage is complete, we will contact you via text or phone with your appointment details.

Urgent Appointments

To request an urgent appointment for today, please complete a SystmConnect. If you are unable to use SystmConnect, please telephone the surgery on 01925 815 333 and a member of the team will assist you.

Outside our normal working hours you can still get medical help and be seen by a GP if needed. If it is an emergency dial 999, otherwise it’s 111. What is an emergency?

Care Navigation: How Our Reception Team Helps

When you call, our receptionists (trained Care Navigators) will ask for a brief outline of your problem. This helps them direct you to the most appropriate service or healthcare professional for your needs, often securing you the right care faster.

  • Care Navigators never provide clinical advice.

  • They may suggest alternative local services, such as a Community Pharmacist, Social Services, or the Warrington Health & Wellbeing Service. Useful online resources include NHS, Patient.info, and Warrington Borough Council.

  • While the choice is always yours and you will not be refused a GP appointment, utilizing care navigation frees up GP time for complex medical conditions that strictly require a doctor.

Cancelling an Appointment

If you cannot attend, please cancel as soon as possible so we can offer the slot to another patient. You can cancel by:

  • Replying directly to your text reminder.

  • Using the NHS App.

  • Calling the surgery.Please Note: Missing appointments without notice impacts other patients. Persistent non-attendance may result in removal from our practice list. Please ensure your contact details are kept up to date.

Appointment Day Guidelines

  • Telephone Appointments: Please ensure your phone is accessible. The clinician will make two attempts to call you. If you miss both, you will need to request a new appointment. You can note any times you are unavailable on your initial SystmConnect form.

  • Face-to-Face Appointments: Please use the self-check-in screen upon arrival at Padgate Medical Centre.

  • Medication Enquiries: For all medication queries, please contact the surgery after 2:00 PM.
